ALVIN’S LEGACY TEAM

EPHRA PANKHURST

I walk alongside Alvin and his art and legacy as I have done for 54 years.

I run the Alvin Pankhurst Studio Gallery in Parnell, with this loving and dedicated team. Grant Levarre-Waters, our web expert, Alvin’s good mate and our close friend, is utterly invaluable.

MATTHEW & ANDRE PANKHURST

Our sons grew up with a hands-on loving father and were immersed in their dad’s art world.

MATTHEW (LLB/BA)

“I went to law school and afterwards I decided to use my skills on behalf of the business. When I suffered a deep trauma while travelling overseas, dad rescued me and supported me every step of the way. We miss him so much.” Here I am with my therapy dog Gabriel (Gabe), an important part of our family.

ANDRÉ

“I decided on a creative career. I thought of becoming a fine artist but decided one artist in the family was enough!! I am a master goldsmith/jeweller and live with my wife Anna and young daughter Lydia in Stockholm. We come home frequently. I am a consultant in the business.”

GRANT

“I am a graphic designer, with my own company VIRTUALeyes. My career covers design, electronics, networks, software, robotics, digital printing and signwriting.

“I have enjoyed helping Alvin Pankhurst Gallery with their website and general branding. It’s a colourful journey filled with fantastic imagery and warm stories.”

DARA McNAUGHT

Ephra’s sister and a writer/researcher. “I am co-writer of the mailouts and Alvin’s upcoming biography. I assist with and promote many aspects of the business, including front of house in the Parnell Gallery.

“When I first met Alvin he was painting Maybe Tomorrow. I have continued to watch with fascination, awe and deep respect Alvin’s artistic journey and his challenges over the last 50 years. It is a great privilege to be a part of his life.”

PAUL DRAGICEVICH

Klone Digital Imaging studio www.klone.co.nz

Our indispensable highly skilled and experienced printer and friend specialises in high resolution scanning and printing, image reproduction, file processing, fine art printing and high-end retouching. You can see his experience and high-quality work in all our prints. He will drop everything for us when we need him.

ANDREW FINDLAY

A family friend, Andrew stepped in to honour and preserve Alvin’s work when we were shattered by his loss. Along with Matthew he dismantled and organised the departure of Alvin’s gallery in Pauanui, bringing equipment and artwork safely back to Auckland over many trips. Andrew is invaluable with the ongoing protection, sorting and storage of Alvin’s paintings, sketches, unfinished works, drawings and painting equipment.

SAMANTHA AIGA RERIANA KALOLO TAMATEA

Our close friend Samantha is a descendant of the Spitzenberg Maiava and Tukerangi Worth bloodlines.

“I am a researcher and advocate committed to advancing Indigenous perspectives in creative and diverse cultural spaces. With academic training in Applied Social Work for Indigenous Peoples and through the ongoing development of Āio ki te Whānau, Āio ki te Taiao frameworks for wellbeing I weave together reciprocity, reflective practice, analytical thinking, cultural heritage, and service to community. I bring a Māori cultural perspective to Matua Alvin’s great work.”
